Reading Assessments with PDAs
Products
- Assessment tool
- can be modified
- Classroom
Wizard
- Although Classroom Wizard is not specifically designed
for reading it is worth taking a look at for its ease of use, utilization
of PDAs, and for the quality of reports the system provides for teachers.
Both MClass and Classroom Wizard provide teachers and administrators
with very strong quantitative data for making decisions regarding
content and instruction style based on student performance data.
- Discourse It
- currently
supports Pocket PC's and will soon also support the Palm OS (pilots
underway).
- GradeQuick by Jackson
software
- Learner Profile To Go
- The current version of "Learner Profile ToGo" is now available for
Palm OS and supports current MS Windows versions but only Mac OS 7.x-9.x
(i.e. currently no Mac OSX support). The only modification I would
hope to see (other than native OSX support) is that it be compliant
with the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) which would allow
it to interoperate with other school-focused solutions such as Student
Information Management Systems (PowerSchool, ClassServer, etc.)
- MClass
Reading system.
- Along with MClassReading, Wireless Generation
also provides MClass TPRI (Texas Primary Reading Inventory), a reading
assessment program for grades K-2 utilizing handheld computers. As
well as MClass DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy
Skills) and MClass QRI (Qualitative Reading Inventory) for grades
K-5.
- Wireless Gen
- They have
Palm-based reading inventory tracking software.
