Introduction: We have spent time looking at the federal and state mandates (including NCLB) that have caused educators (and parents) to become more aware of AT/UD. We have also had a chance to utilize the SIOP framework, as well as trying our hand with the SETT and QIAT frameworks—collecting information for the Josh case study. Some may have found this task (Josh’s case study-discussion thread 4) difficult—(especially if they were not familiar with assistive technologies and Universal Design strategies). Our exploration of AT/UD devices and strategies will make this task much easier in the future. We also started to explore different learning styles. This week we will continue to explore different learning styles (as some of the readings illustrate ELL students often have “different learning styles” based on their country of origin) and we will start to explore how differentiated instruction can be applied to address these different learning styles. Finally, we will begin our exploration of AT devices and strategies that can help ELL, as well as the general classroom student. |
